Privacy Policy
Slashedtake ("Slashedtake," "we," "us") is a social app where you can share photos, videos, and text posts, chat with other people, and discover what is happening around you. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using Slashedtake you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
The short version
We collect the information needed to run your account and the features you use (posts, comments, messages, check-ins, and so on). We do not sell your personal information and we do not show third-party advertising. We use trusted service providers (such as Google Firebase) to run the app. You can delete your account from within the app. You can contact us any time at [email protected].
1. Information we collect
Account and sign-in information
- Sign-in providers. You can sign in with Google, Apple, or Facebook. Depending on the provider, we receive an account identifier, your name, your email address (Apple may provide a private relay address instead of your real one), and your profile photo.
- Optional Facebook profile import. If you choose to import your Facebook profile, we copy the profile details you approve (such as your name and profile photo) into your Slashedtake profile. This is optional.
- Guest mode. You can use Slashedtake as a guest. Guest mode still creates an account, and we may use a device identifier to apply usage limits, prevent abuse, and let you return to the same guest account.
- Profile details. Anything you add to your profile, such as a username, display name, bio, and profile picture.
Content you create
We store the content you create and share in the app, including photos, videos, voiceovers, text posts, threads, comments, direct messages (DMs), polls and votes, remixes of other people's posts, @mentions, and tags on photos. Content you post may be visible to other users depending on the features you use. We store DMs on our servers so we can deliver them to the people you message.
Location
With your permission, we access your device's location to show nearby places and to let you add a check-in to a post. If you add a check-in, we save the place name and its coordinates with that post, and people who can see the post can see the place. Location access is optional and you can turn it off at any time in your device settings.
Camera, microphone, and photo library
- Camera to take photos and record videos.
- Microphone to record audio for videos and voiceovers.
- Photo library to pick photos and videos to post and, when you choose, to save photos or videos to your device.
We only access these with your permission. Content leaves your device only when you post or send it.
Clipboard
When you tap to copy your profile link so you can share it, the app places that link on your clipboard.
Device and usage information
We collect technical and usage information such as your device model, operating system and app version, language, approximate location derived from your IP address, your push notification token, crash and error reports, and how you use the app (for example, screens viewed, likes, and sign-in events). We use Firebase to collect this usage information. It is used to run and improve the app, not to sell advertising.
Safety information
If you report content or a user, block someone, or are subject to a report or moderation action, we keep records of these events (reports, blocks, and moderation logs) to keep the community safe, enforce our Terms, and meet legal obligations.
What we do not collect
We do not access your contacts or address book.
2. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and let you sign in.
- To provide the features of the app, including posting, commenting, messaging, polls, remixes, tags, check-ins, and showing nearby places.
- To send push notifications you have allowed, such as likes, comments, mentions, and messages.
- To keep the app safe: handling reports and blocks, enforcing our Terms, preventing spam and abuse, and investigating violations.
- To understand how the app is used, fix crashes and bugs, and improve performance and features.
- To respond to your requests and communicate with you about the service.
- To comply with legal obligations and protect our rights.
Legal bases (EEA, UK, and similar regions). Where such laws apply, we rely on: performing our contract with you (providing the app); our legitimate interests (security, safety, and improving the app); your consent (for example, location, camera, microphone, and push notifications, which you can withdraw at any time); and legal obligations.
3. Companies we work with
We use the following service providers and other companies to operate Slashedtake. They process information on our behalf or provide the features described, and their own privacy policies also apply.
| Company | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| Google (Firebase) | Sign-in, database, file storage, analytics, and app infrastructure. |
| Google (nearby places) | Finding nearby places for check-ins, using your location when you allow it. |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple and delivery of push notifications to iPhones. |
| Facebook (Meta) | Sign in with Facebook and the optional profile import. |
| Giphy | Searching for and displaying GIFs. When you search for a GIF, the search words you type are sent to Giphy through our servers. When GIFs load in the app, Giphy receives standard technical data, such as your IP address and app or browser details, as with any content loaded from a third party. We do not send your user ID or other profile information to Giphy. |
| Expo | Push notification delivery. |
| Sentry | Crash and error reporting, where enabled. |
| Uptime monitoring | We use uptime monitoring on our API to detect outages and keep the service available. |
4. How we share information
- With other users: content you post, your profile, and your check-ins are shared as you choose through the app's features. DMs are shared with the recipients.
- With service providers: the companies listed above, only as needed to provide their services to us.
- For legal and safety reasons: if we believe disclosure is required by law or legal process, or is necessary to protect the safety, rights, or property of our users, the public, or us.
- Business changes: if Slashedtake is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred, and we will tell you if your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
- With your consent or at your direction.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
5. How long we keep information
We keep your information while your account is active. Reports, blocks, and moderation logs are kept for up to about two years. We may keep information longer where required by law or needed to resolve disputes or enforce our Terms. Backups may persist for a limited time before they are overwritten.
6. Deleting your account
You can delete your account from within the app. When you do, we delete or de-identify your profile and personal information. Some content, such as older comments and DMs, may be anonymized rather than erased everywhere, which means it can remain in the app or in other people's conversations without being linked to you. Safety records described above may be kept for the period stated in this policy.
7. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to certain processing, receive a copy in a portable format, and withdraw consent. You can also:
- Turn off location, camera, microphone, photo library, or notification access in your device settings.
- Edit your profile and delete your own posts and comments in the app.
- Delete your account in the app.
To exercise your rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. If you are in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. If you are a California resident, you have the rights to know, delete, and correct your personal information and to not be discriminated against for exercising them; we do not sell or share personal information as defined by California law.
8. Children
Slashedtake is for people aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the app. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it and the account. If you believe a child under 13 is using Slashedtake, contact us at [email protected]. In some countries the age needed to consent to data processing is higher than 13, and a parent or guardian's permission may be required.
9. International transfers
Slashedtake and our providers process information in the United States and other countries, which may have different data protection laws than where you live. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for these transfers.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please use a strong sign-in method and keep your device secure.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you in the app or by another appropriate method, and we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
