Terms of Use
The short version
You must be 13 or older. Be respectful, and do not post anything illegal, harmful, or abusive. You own your content, but you give us permission to display it in the app. We can remove content or accounts that break these rules. You can report content, block people, and delete your account in the app.
1. Agreement
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Slashedtake ("Slashedtake," "we," "us") that governs your use of the Slashedtake app and related services (the "Service"). By creating an account, using guest mode, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Who can use Slashedtake
- You must be at least 13 years old. If the age of digital consent in your country is higher than 13, you must have reached that age or have a parent or guardian's permission.
- You must not be barred from using the Service under applicable law.
- If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you confirm you have authority to bind it to these Terms.
3. Your account
- You can sign in with Google, Apple, or Facebook, or use guest mode. Guest mode creates an account and may be limited.
- Provide accurate information and keep your sign-in secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- Do not impersonate others, create accounts to evade a suspension or block, or sell or transfer your account.
- Tell us right away at [email protected] if you think your account has been compromised.
4. Your content
"Content" means anything you post, upload, send, or share through the Service, including photos, videos, voiceovers, text posts, threads, comments, polls, remixes, tags, check-ins, GIFs, and direct messages.
- You own your content. We do not claim ownership of it.
- License to us. By posting content, you give Slashedtake a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for example, resize or reformat), display, and distribute it as needed to operate, promote, and improve the Service. This license continues for a reasonable time after you delete content to cover backups and content that others have already shared or remixed, and to the extent needed for legal and safety purposes.
- License to other users. Other users may view your content and, where the Service allows it, interact with it, including by remixing it. Do not post content you do not want others to see or interact with in these ways.
- Your promise. You confirm that you own your content or have the rights needed to post it, and that it does not violate these Terms or anyone's rights.
- Locations and tags. If you add a check-in, the place name and coordinates may be saved with your post and visible to others. Only tag people in photos if it is appropriate to do so.
5. Community rules
Slashedtake should be a safe and welcoming place. You agree not to post or do any of the following:
- Content that is illegal, or that promotes or facilitates illegal activity.
- Content that sexualizes minors, or any sexual content involving minors. We report this to the authorities.
- Nudity or pornographic or sexually explicit content, or sexual content shared without consent.
- Harassment, bullying, threats, intimidation, or stalking of any person.
- Hate speech or content that attacks people because of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or similar characteristics.
- Graphic violence, gore, or content that promotes terrorism, violent extremism, self-harm, or suicide.
- Posting someone's private information (such as address or phone number) without their consent.
- Spam, scams, fraud, fake engagement, or misleading content designed to deceive people.
- Content that infringes anyone's copyright, trademark, or other rights.
- Malware, or attempts to disrupt, scrape, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or other users' accounts.
- Using the Service in a way that is unlawful, or that harms other users or Slashedtake.
No tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. We do not tolerate objectionable content or abusive behavior. We may remove content, restrict features, suspend, or permanently ban accounts that violate these rules, without notice where appropriate.
6. Reporting, blocking, and moderation
- Report. You can report posts, comments, messages, and users from within the app.
- Block. You can block other users from within the app. Blocked users cannot interact with you in the ways the app provides.
- Our response. We review reports and aim to act on objectionable content within 24 hours where possible. We may remove content, warn users, or suspend or ban accounts.
- Records. We keep reports, blocks, and moderation logs for safety and legal purposes, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Moderation decisions are made at our discretion. We are not obligated to monitor all content, and we do not guarantee that all violations will be found or removed.
7. Direct messages
Direct messages are intended to be private between participants, but they are stored on our servers and may be reviewed where needed to respond to reports, enforce these Terms, or comply with law. Another participant can share or screenshot what you send, so use judgment about what you share.
8. Third-party services
The Service works with third-party services, such as Google, Apple, Facebook, and Giphy. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party services or content, including GIFs and nearby-place information provided by others.
9. Permissions on your device
The Service may ask for access to your camera, microphone, photo library, location, and notifications. You can grant or revoke these in your device settings. Some features may not work without them.
10. Our rights in the Service
The Service, including the Slashedtake name, logo, design, and software, belongs to us and our licensors and is protected by law. We give you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for its intended purpose under these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the Service except as permitted by these Terms or law. If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without obligation to you.
11. Copyright complaints
If you believe content on Slashedtake infringes your copyright, email [email protected] with: a description of the work, where the material appears in the app, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use is unauthorized, and a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your information is accurate and that you own or are authorized to act for the owner. We may remove content and may terminate accounts of repeat infringers.
12. Ending your use
- By you. You can stop using the Service at any time and can delete your account from within the app. Some content, such as older comments and DMs, may be anonymized rather than erased everywhere, as described in our Privacy Policy.
- By us. We may suspend or terminate your access, or remove content, at any time if we reasonably believe you have broken these Terms, created risk or legal exposure, or if we discontinue the Service. We will try to give notice where practical.
- Sections that by their nature should continue after termination will do so, including those on content licenses, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law.
13. Changes to the Service and these Terms
We may change, add, or remove features of the Service at any time. We may update these Terms, and if the changes are significant we will notify you in the app or another appropriate way and update the date above. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you should stop using the Service and delete your account.
14. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that content or information on it is accurate or reliable. You use the Service at your own risk. Be careful when meeting or sharing your location with people you encounter through the Service. We are not responsible for the conduct of users, online or offline.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Slashedtake will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (if any) or US$100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you, and nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
16. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend and indemnify Slashedtake against claims, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms or anyone's rights.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you and we consent to those courts' jurisdiction, except that either of us may seek urgent relief in any competent court. If you are a consumer, this does not take away mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live. Before filing a claim, please contact us at [email protected] so we can try to resolve the issue informally.
18. General
- These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service.
- If a part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
- If we do not enforce a provision, that is not a waiver of it.
- You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Apple is not a party to these Terms and is not responsible for the Service or its content, maintenance, or support. If you use the iOS app, Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
